The Process of Colonics
In colonic hydrotherapy we use a sterile disposable two inch plastic scope that is inserted into the rectum. A small tube is attached to the outside of the scope and double-filtered water is introduced at body temperature into the large intestines gradually, while at the same time washing out loosened toxic material through a second larger waste tube into the septic system. This gentle washing is quite relaxing and pain-free. Occasionally with conditions of extreme constipation, there may be some mild intestinal cramping, but this will stop before the end of the session.
Each session lasts approximately 40 minutes, during which time, the client is reclined on a comfortable padded table, while the therapist skillfully massages the abdominal area to aid in the softening of impactions.
Something to Think About ...
In autopsies on colons 70% of people had encrustation within their colon, 50% of those had parasitic infestation and 25% had up to eight pounds of undigested matter lining their colon (this was one of the most talked about facts in the death of John Wayne). This may be a major reason why colon cancer ranks next to heart disease as the most frequent cause of death in the U.S. today.
Our initial colonic appointment includes a comprehensive consultation with Kate Leighton and lasts up to 90 minutes for the consult and the therapy. If you are unsure about the appropriateness of a colonic for you, you can book an appointment for a consultation with Kate and then decide about a colonic afterwards. Gravity Flow Colonic Hydotherapy
Detoxification Advice & Guidance
The concept of cleansing the system of elimination has been a core aspect of traditional healing methods for thousands of years. It has now become the treatment secret that has provided incredible benefits to models, athletes and movie stars. Many people utilize colonics as a natural method of cleansing the large intestines to keep bowel function regular and naturally prevent disease. Colonic hydrotherapy not only can remove toxic materials and restore normal cellular balance, but it can also provide resistance exercise of the colonic muscles. Your bowel movements can become easier, more complete and more frequent.
We use one of the few natural gravity flow systems which makes water available to the body as the body needs it throughout the session. It produces no external pressure, allowing for your body's natural rhythm to be used and strengthened while providing maximum comfort. Your session will feel more natural because water is flowing into the body at the speed the colon allows.
For this reason, many of our clients have said they strongly preferred the gravity-flow method to machine-administered colonics.

So What is Normal?
I hope you're sitting down, because most people are shocked to find out that the average individual should have at least one to two bowel movements each day, depending on the amount and frequency of food taken in. Many people rarely experience that because their diet and lifestyle challenge their digestion every day, sometimes reducing their bowel function to once or twice a week. Bowel movements should be within 15 to 30 minutes after eating and should be easy, relatively quick and substantial. Material should not look excessively dry or be too loose and you should not have to strain.
Colon dysfunction is usually first recognized by an individual as constipation or diarrhea, although there may have been signs for years. These signs may be accompanied by foul-smelling stool or gas, indicating a severe decaying of the material in the intestinal tract. These conditions are often diagnosed as Irritable Bowel Syndrome and treated with laxatives or harsh fibers. More extreme results may progress to Crohn's Disease or even Colitis.
