Christmas Time: A Time of Higher Consciousness

As I look around and see the beautiful lights everywhere, I sense the scent of pine, peppermint, and cinnamon.  I get excited about the Christmas holiday season, as it seems to bring out the best in the people around me.  I see eager eyes, friendly smiles, and warm gestures.

People in general just seem to be nicer.

But I wonder … what is the source of lighter hearts that I sense? Is it the anticipation of the giving and receiving of gifts?   Could it be the delicious holiday goodies and the way they cause our stomachs to cheer? Is it the child in each of us, remembering Santa and the excitement of dreaming and believing?

This year especially, as I start to sense the Christmastime shift, a new question of source arises:   since we are beings of both matter AND energy, maybe the seasonal lights and colors resonate WITHIN us … challenging us to reach for a higher state of consciousness.   So perhaps, as we are surrounded by red, white, and green lights, our bodies are processing messages of stimulation, balance, and purity.

As the lights and colors enter our bodies, they energetically coax us to that next level of consciousness:  a level where we do not simply focus on our individual situations or circumstances but rather, our attention is drawn to something bigger, something stronger, something divine.

Color and light have been proven over centuries to significantly impact our mental, physical, and spiritual health.  With that in mind, as we put up our Christmas trees and string beautiful lights all around them, know that our bodies are truly receiving some “higher consciousness” holiday cheer. Happy Holidays!
