My name is Tanya Lewis and not only do I love food, I love knowing that the delicious food we eat is also what creates our health. Invite people to your house and put out a little spread of tasty options. Be sure to include two things that you can eat such as some fruit, some grissini crackers, salad. Don’t put out anything that would really tempt you. Then enjoy! This way you turn a potentially uncomfortable and tempting occasion into the fun you deserve.
So often we turn to pain killers, antacids, Pepto-Bismal or Miralax because our digestion is so chronically compromised. Whether we are talking about the stomach, the small intestines or the colon, we are talking about how our body is handling the food we eat.
This is because we have failed to understand the essence of “feeding”. We may eat, but that doesn’t mean we are feeding ourselves. All of us understand that a donut isn’t the healthiest option, but we aren’t eating it for its nutritional value. We are eating it because we feel we deserve a treat, because we are in a rush and need something in our stomach, because we are dealing with grief, because it’s too delicious to pass up! We may not realize that many of our eating habits are not actually driven by our thoughts and our emotions. Our body’s nutritional needs are a decisive factor in our food choices. In our Conscious Eating appointments we focus on evaluating your nutritional imbalances and deficiencies. Without these key pieces, any nutritional work just won’t work!
The Calcium Cuff Test - calcium is one of the most essential minerals we require. So many people may have perfectly normal blood calcium levels, but the story can be very different in the tissues themselves. This easy blood pressure test shows us if there is deficiency in the body tissues.
Salivary pH Test - pH can influence nutrient absorption, digestive efficiency and overall metabolic function. We may not even realize how important our pH is. If you have a very acidic salivary pH, you are deficient in essential fatty acids which are the building blocks for Vitamin D, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone and cortisol.
